Program Educational Objectives
Program Educational Objectives embody the expected accomplishments of graduates in the first few years after graduation.
As BSME graduates of Texas Tech University graduates will:
- apply their knowledge and skills to solve (engineering) problems both well posed and ill defined,
- be recognized for their professional contributions in industry, academia, and government,
- provide effective technical, strategic, and administrative leadership of teams and organizations,
- continue a process of independent life long learning and (as applicable) are successful in graduate schools, and
- know and fulfill ethical and professional responsibilities as embodied in the Engineering Code of Ethics.

Evaluation and Revision of Program Educational Objectives
These Educational Objectives are established based on input from the Mechanical Engineering Department constituents which are comprised of two groups:
- primary constituents, for which the curriculum is mainly structured, include the students, alumni, and industry
- secondary constituents include the faculty, community (general public), and profession (i.e., practicing engineers and professional societies)
Based on the feedback and input from the constituents, adjustments are made to the Program Educational Objectives whenever a need is identified. The assessment and revision process is illustrated below.
