Program Assessment Plan
The Mechanical Engineering Program is driven by the curriculum, outcomes, and objectives. The overall process for curricular planning, analysis and evaluation of data, and quality improvement of the program is illustrated in the figure below.
This process has four main components:
- program (e.g., outcomes)
- assessment process tools
- analysis and evaluation, and
- implementation of changes and amendments.
The data obtained through the assessment and process tools are evaluated and analyzed by the Undergraduate Affairs Committee, the chairperson, and faculty. Based on the outcome of the evaluation and analysis of the data, changes and amendments are implemented in the program. This process leads to the revision of the curriculum, objectives, outcomes, and other aspects of the program.
The assessment process tools are applied in:
- Half-Year (each long semester) Cycles,
- Student Evaluation of Course and Instructor
- Learning Objectives Assessment Questionnaire
- Course Outcomes Assessment Questionnaire
- Senior Exit Interviews
- Student Design Project Evaluation
- Student Advisory Group
- Graduate School Admissions of BSME Graduates
- Instructor's Course Assessment
- Student Co-op Survey
- Industrial Advisory Committee
- 1-year cycles, or
- Mechanical Engineering Academy
- Retention Statistics
- FE Exam Results
- 2-year cycles.
- Alumni Survey
