Work conducted at the Materials Performance & Failure Analysis Laboratory is in support of research, teaching and service activities in the following areas:
- Residual stress measurement and analysis
- Root-cause failure analysis of engineering materials and components
- High strain-rate, High heating-rate deformation characterization
- Tribology - measurement / analysis of friction and slip resistance of walkway surfaces
- Hail Impact Damage Assessment on Roofing Materials and Aerospace Components
- Finite element modeling of large deformations and explosive loading
- Non-Destructive Evaluation (Ultrasonic, X-ray, Optical and Scanning Electron Microscopy)
- Mechanical Metallurgy
