Collaborations

The Following Departments and Institutes Collaborate in Orthopaedic Biomechanics Research

1) DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: The responsibilities of the department of mechanical engineering involves mechanical testing of living tissues, machining of required jigs and fixtures, design of test equipment and finite element analysis of tissues and joints.

2) DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS : The department of mathematics and statistics participation in our research aids in analysis and modeling of the results obtained through mechanical or analytical evaluation of tissues, joints, and implants.

3) DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY - Texas Tech Health Sciences Center : The role of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center - Department of Orthopaedics is to provide guidance from a clinical perspective, to acquire and prepare the test specimens, and to provide surgical assistance in dissection of specimens.

4) DEPARTMENT OF CELL BIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY - Texas Tech Health Sciences Center: Dr Dan Hardy of the Department of Cell Biology and Biochemistry provides technical advice and guidance related to ultrastructural analysis of soft tissues. He is also actively involved with NIH sponsered research related to sex-based differences in ACL injury.

4) DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDIC REHABILITATION - UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT: Dr. James Slauterbeck of department of Orthopaedic rehabilitation of university of Vermont is also actively involved in Orthopaedic biomechanics research at Texas Tech University. He is involved in clinical guidance for the research, analysis of results and publication and presentation activities.
